As a result, Knaresborough is home to several notable bridges and viaducts that have played a significant role in the town's history.
One of the most iconic bridges in Knaresborough is the 14th century stone bridge that spans the River Nidd. The bridge features five arches and is an important historical landmark. It was originally built to improve access to the town's market and to connect Knaresborough to other towns in the region.
However, this isn’t that one. This little bridge is actually located just behind the main viaduct attraction, and it drew my eye due to its subtleness - it’s just there, like it doesn’t mean anything, yet it holds so much beauty. The bigger viaduct gets mass amounts of attention, while this little guy sits behind in its shadow - so I thought I’d give it a spotlight.
